Bought this on recommendation by Cooks Illustrated web site. Seemed somewhat cheaply made (not inexpensive) but we figured with the recommendation maybe this is as good as it gets anymore. After about 8 uses the control panel went dark while cooking. I pressed the power button and it came right back on. Thought it was just a random thing and then smoke started coming out of the control panel. No, we were not pouring liquid on it. Unplugged it of course and got rid of it. Now in search of a (more reliable and less dangerous) replacement.

After having a round, small, "dumb" slow-cooker for so long, this was another instance of going from the Flintstones to the Jetsons. My roasts come out perfect, just perfect. I bought this on ATK's recommendation and have not been disappointed, thanks Chris Kimball et alia, and thanks to Crock-Pot for making such a great item.

A terrific accompaniment to this would be, incidentally, Slow Cooker Revolution by ATK. I made the Curry in a Hurry or whatever it's called. Awesome! I also tried the Italian-style pot roast. I slew!

Love that I have this slow cooker, the timer features are great and it cooks very evenly. It also is very easy to use and looks great. The only slight I would give it is that there are cheaper slow cookers out there with very similar features. There are also ones that are more expensive depending on brand. You definitely pay for touch panel interface and the really nice looks of this slow cooker but I say its worth it.
